Log 2024-11
- Started to write a proposal for a workshop at the DHd 2025,
which focuses on distant reading and computational method
approaches to analysis source code, but still under the banner
of Critical
Code Analysis.
- Prepared for an interview with Paolo Baerlocher which was truely
insightful. It triggered a change in plans for the Leisure
Electronics 2024 Proposal. Instead of Aventura I I will
talk about Aldebaran. I’m quite
happy to include a video game with 3D graphics in the lineage of
Elite!
- Made an interview with Laro
Schatzer today. Listening to him made me realise that he had
some similar experiences as Paolo
Baerlocher. Both mentioned this magic moment, where they
figured that they could control what’s on television through
programming. I guess both of them were socialised with watching
television, and having the ability to hook up a computer system
and being in control, or decide what’s on screen was a moment of
empowerment. There is something here akin to the marinoCriticalCodeStudies2020
chapter on Kittler [@marinoCriticalCodeStudies2020],
programming as an ontological way of thinking or accessing the
world. I’m pretty sure there is a bit of identity building in
here.
- With the help of Laro Schatzer
I was able to dump the Basic code of Robox to a textfile. Notes
on that under How to Dump
Commodore 64 Basic.
