Cumbia

I had my on and offs with the Cumbia music genre since 2014, when I first heard Dengue Dengue Dengue.

Cumbia refers to a number of musical rhythms and folk dance traditions of Latin America, generally involving musical and cultural elements from American Indigenous peoples, Europeans and Africans during colonial times.[1] Cumbia is said to have come from funeral traditions in the Afro-Colombian community. Originally from Colombia, being folk, it has uncounted local adaptions and subgenres. My favorite so far are the Peruvian (pre-2000, I think) and Mexican variants.

Peruvian/Chicha

Seems a bit more like surf and lighter to me.

Peruvian cumbia is a subgenre of chicha (Andean tropical music) that became popular in the coastal cities of Peru, mainly in Lima in the 1960s through the fusion of local versions of the original Colombian genre, traditional highland huayno, and rock music, particularly surf rock and psychedelic rock. Mexican/Rebajada

Rebajada is a super slowed down variant of Cumbia. This subgenre/subculture from Mexico became especially known for its particular aesthetic and dance styles.
